Inspired by Norse Mythology – and the Climb Within
The deck’s name was inspired by Lyfjaberg, meaning Healing Mountain in Norse mythology – a sacred place where anyone could receive healing if they were brave enough to make the climb.
“That’s what this deck is all about,” says Emrie. “If you’re courageous enough to reflect on those hard, uncomfortable truths, you’ll find the healing you seek.”
For Emrie, that climb was personal. Following a profound spiritual awakening in 2020, she spent three years devoted to deep self-healing after decades of trauma. That process became the foundation for the deck – a roadmap through pain, forgiveness, and ultimately, balance.
“This deck is my manual for how I achieved a life of endless gratitude, balance, and truth-seeking in a dualistic world,” she explains.
A Labor of Love and Partnership
While the inspiration was deeply personal, the idea for the deck actually came from Emrie’s husband. After seeing how drained she felt from running a podcast, he encouraged her to channel her creativity into something more fulfilling – her own oracle deck.
“He said, ‘You could help more people this way. Probably more than the podcast,’” Emrie recalls. “This deck literally wouldn’t exist without him.”
The Creative Process
Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Emrie spent over two years bringing her mystical world to life. Yet, the process wasn’t always linear – she paused for nearly eight months when she reached the final 15 cards.
“I realized the wisdom for those cards just hadn’t developed in me yet,” she says. “Once I went through a few more life experiences and integrated those lessons, I finished the rest of the deck in two weeks.”
The result is a breathtaking visual and spiritual experience that has already moved readers to tears. “At a recent Barnes & Noble event, multiple people told me their first card pull made them cry,” she shares. “That confirmed every moment of those two years was worth it.”
