Tampa Bay Automobile Museum Playing Cards: A Tribute to Engineering & Innovation

The Tampa Bay Automobile Museum has always celebrated the spirit of creativity, invention, and design. Now, visitors can take home a piece of that legacy with the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum Playing Cards—a custom deck featuring 56 unique images of rare, innovative vehicles, beautifully photographed by JP Lansdale.

A Pocket-Sized Museum Experience

This project marks the museum’s first custom card deck, created to give guests something more than a keepsake. Each card doubles as a miniature exhibit, showcasing one-of-a-kind vehicles from the museum’s collection.

“When people start flipping through the cards, they realize every single one features a different car,” Candace Watkins explains. “It’s more than a game – it’s like holding a pocket-sized museum tour.”

The Challenge of Selection

With so many rare vehicles to choose from, the hardest part of the process was narrowing the collection down to just 56 cars. “The museum houses so many remarkable vehicles—it wasn’t easy to decide,” Candace shares. “But in the end, the challenge made the final deck more special.”

The deck was directly inspired by the museum’s collection itself. Each car tells its own story of innovation, engineering, and history, making it the perfect subject for a playable art form. Designed with a clean, elegant layout, the cards allow the cars to shine as the true centerpiece. From close-up details to full captures, JP Lansdale’s photography highlights the intricacies that make these vehicles timeless works of engineering.

A Tribute to Creativity & Innovation

The museum’s motto, “A Tribute to Creativity & Innovation in Engineering,” guided every step of the project. The cards aren’t just designed to be admired – they’re meant to be used, handled, and enjoyed, just like the cars themselves are meant to be driven.

Candace also shares advice for other creators: “Think about how your deck will be used in people’s hands, not just how it will look. Functionality, durability, and storytelling all matter just as much as design.”

Manufactured by Shuffled Ink

When it came time to bring the deck to life, the museum partnered with Shuffled Ink.

“We chose Shuffled Ink because of their reputation for producing high-quality, durable custom decks,” Candace says. “The final product exceeded our expectations—the colors are sharp, the feel is professional, and the quality makes it a deck people will want to keep and use.”

The Tampa Bay Automobile Museum team shared their gratitude for the collaboration:

“We’re grateful to Shuffled Ink for helping us bring this idea to life. The deck has been a wonderful way to share the museum’s story and introduce people to some of the most innovative cars ever built.”

The result is a deck that celebrates history, innovation, and artistry—one shuffle at a time.

For 2025, the museum’s goals include expanding outreach, attracting more visitors, and developing creative projects like the playing cards to highlight the history and engineering behind their collection. New events, educational content, and engaging products are all on the horizon.
