For this blog, we spoke with Caden.

Frank Lloyd Wright once said “Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.”

Centre Sky

This goes hand in hand with our client, Centre Sky Architecture, and their approach of site and architecture becoming one. This driving force is derived from underpinnings of Native American architecture, which is applied to all projects.

Checking out their website will lead you to pictures of beautiful homes, all surrounded and clearly influenced by nature. From snowy mountain tops to lush forests, Centre sky features nature at the center of everything they do.

Much like their love of nature, Sustainability is important to Centre Sky.

Sustainability is taken into consideration for every project they do. This includes improving indoor air quality, reducing indoor heating and cooling costs, reducing maintenance, water conservation, and making the most of natural light.

When possible, reclaimed materials are used along with recycling of certain construction projects! They also love to add in local materials from the project site as unique design touches, structural elements, and landscape materials.

At Centre Sky, It’s important to them that each client gets a handmade design that is unique.

They evolve and change with each different client, much like we do here at Shuffled Ink. Each site is different, and every client has different needs and desires.  Clients are the most important element to every project Centre Sky does, as they live in and interact with the project daily.

In that vein, quality is extremely important to them. They work to discover the best individualized response for each design.

Communication is essential as well, both to keep projects on time and to ensure their client’s expectations are realized.

Coupled with their sustainability efforts, their aim is to create a new way of thinking and living.

Choosing the right manufacturer is key.

This was Centre Sky’s first project with us, and when asked why they chose Shuffled Ink, Caden had this to say: “Shuffled Ink had some amazing reviews online and provided effective and wonderful support. “

Later, he went on to say that, initially he “was  worried about the quality of the cards. However, when we received the cards, everyone was dumb founded with how wonderful they are.”

It was not entirely an easy process, though.

They encountered issues like faulty images, and timing. Design hours were a hurdle for them, as it takes a lot of time to create 54 unique card designs. Especially so when each is hand-drawn and then imported into Photoshop to create a card.

When asked if Caden had any  advice for newbie card creators and designers, he replied “If you don’t enjoy some aspect of your cards, keep ironing it out. There are a million different ways to show your intended design.”

And, he is absolutely right! The old adage, “if you don’t succeed, try, try again” applies wonderfully to design and the creation of cards.

Many of our clients undergo revision after revision on their path to perfecting their cards.

Centre Sky

Centre Sky’s deck features ‘red line’ drawings of their various residential projects.

In their cards, you can see Ranch, American Craftsman, and Modern style drawings of homes. Each drawing is influenced by Principal Architect Jamie Daugaard and his team.

When asked about the creative process, Caden said it started with “Photoshop and a simple old school drawing style.” Red lines and red line drawing is used in architecture as a way of marking up corrections on drawings and floor plans. Red Lines can also be used as a way of designing and solving problems.

Basically, red lines are as essential to a project’s growth and development as an artist’s rough draft.

With this in mind, they (Centre Sky) thought red line drawings of houses would be a perfect appreciation gift to fellow designers and clients.

Centre Sky

Everyone at Centre Sky loved the cards so much, they are now working on a second deck!

One of their goals for 2024 is to create a 2nd generation deck based on new projects being completed this year.
